Our fillings are tooth-colored, and matched to your enamel for a consistent, balanced look. Another name for tooth-colored fillings is composite fillings because they are made of an incredibly durable resin composite – a kind of plastic and glass mixture! And did you know we can replace your old metal (amalgam) fillings with tooth-colored ones?
Porcelain Inlays & Onlays
These are custom-designed tooth repairs that address a significant portion of the tooth. An inlay is for a corner or irregular piece of the tooth that needs fixing. An onlay typically covers the entire bite surface of the tooth. In both cases, these are matched to the color of your tooth and custom fabricated out of porcelain. A safe, durable, and beautiful repair.
Crowns & Bridges
Both crowns and bridges replace teeth that are missing or severely damaged. In the case of a crown, some part of your natural tooth survives, and the crown is designed to fit over that part of the tooth. Sometimes crowns are also called caps because they are like tooth-shaped hats. A bridge is a replacement that attaches to healthy teeth on either side of the missing one. Either of these options provide results that look and feel just like your natural teeth, and all of our crowns and bridges are metal-free.
Partials & Dentures
Some of our patients are missing several teeth while others are missing all of them. At OHIOSmiles, we do both partials and dentures. A partial is a custom-designed and fitted appliance that fits over the existing natural teeth and provides replacement teeth where necessary. A full denture replaces an entire arch, or top or bottom jaw. Dentures are an excellent option for some patients, but they might take some getting used to. Please call if you have questions or discomfort.
Implants are an excellent alternative to dentures. Dr. Antalis will help you decide which is the best choice for you, but should you go with the implants, here’s what you can expect.
● Surgical placement of implant post. What does that mean? It means the implant post, or replacement root, will have to be installed by an oral surgeon who has special training in dental implants. Dr. Antalis knows a few and will refer you to someone as gentle and excellent as she is.
● Healing time. After placement, the posts can take anywhere from four to eight weeks to heal. We provide a temporary restoration.
● The restoration. Once your implant posts are ready, we will place your new teeth. Some restoration teeth are permanent, and some are removable. We offer both kinds.
We think root canals get a bad rap. People are always talking about how awful they are. But the truth of the matter is the root canal itself should be comfortable! The thing that is painful is the infection that causes the need for a root canal. Here at OHIOSmiles, we help our patients alleviate infection and restore their teeth as quickly and comfortably as possible. If you have pain in one of your teeth, don’t wait until it’s unbearable. Call us now.
We are equipped to provide minor extractions in the comfort of our Cambridge office. However, for larger surgical needs such as wisdom teeth removal or severely impacted teeth, we will refer you to one of Dr. Antalis’s trusted colleagues.
In order to create the most natural-looking and excellent restorations, we use digital photography and a CEREC machine. CEREC lets us use digital images of your mouth to make ceramic crowns, right in our office. What does that mean to you? It is a lot faster to have a crown with CEREC. Where we used to provide a temporary crown, and bring our patients back in a week to place the permanent one, we can now create your crown while you wait.
